Spring Summer Schedule 2024

Dance Class Descriptions

Budding Ballerinas – An introduction to dance for 3 year old students where they will learn basic ballet positions and movements while developing coordination, flexibility and musicality.

Dancing Stars -A dance class for 4 year old students which introduces basic ballet positions and movements for a portion of the class and introduces basic tap steps for the other portion.

Pre-Ballet + Tap – A dance class for 5 to 7 year old students to continue developing their knowledge of ballet positions and movements at the barre and in the center along with continuing to learn tap steps and rhythms.

Kids Hip Hop Jazz – A high energy class with hip hop movements and basic jazz movements and combinations done to fun music.

Ballet I – A dance class for 8 years and older devoted to developing ballet technique through barre exercises and movements in the center.

Ballet II – A dance class for students with ballet experience to continue developing ballet technique through barre exercises and movements in the center.

Intermediate/Advanced Ballet – A class designed for experienced dancers with substantial ballet training which focuses on advanced barre and center work.

Pre-Pointe – A class by invitation only to focus on strengthening and developing proper technique for pointe work. Students must be enrolled in at least 2 ballet classes per week.

Pointe – A class by invitation only to focus on developing proper technique on pointe. Students must be enrolled in at least 2 ballet class per week.

Beginning Jazz – This is a beginner class for 8 years and older to introduce basic jazz steps and technique through exercises and movements. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class to participate.

Intermediate/Advanced Jazz – This class is for students who have had jazz technique previously and want to further their knowledge of jazz steps and technique. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class to participate.

Contemporary I/II – This is a class for 8 years and older to introduce basic contemporary dance moves and technique through exercises and movements at the barre and in the center. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class to participate.

Intermediate/Advanced Contemporary – This is a class designed for more advanced students with substantial dance training. This class will develop dance technique through more advanced exercises and movements at the barre and in the center. Students must be enrolled in a ballet class to participate.

Beginning Tap – This is a class for 8 years and older to develop tap technique and rhythms through movements in the center.

Intermediate/Advanced Tap – This is a class for experienced tappers to further develop tap technique through movements and combinations.

Adult Ballet – This is a class designed for adults at any level to gain strength and flexibility through barre exercises and movements in the center.

Adult Tap – This is a class designed for adults at any level to develop tap technique through movements and combinations in the center.

Types of Dance

Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all types of dance. It is traditionally taught using classical music and consists of set exercises done at the barre and in the center. It is a structured dance form that helps students achieve correct alignment, flexibility, and strength while also equipping them with the proper technique needed in their other dance classes.

Jazz
Jazz is a form of dance done to more contemporary music using ballet technique as a basis for the various steps and exercises. Dancers learn to isolate different parts of the body and continue to develop musicality, flexibility, and strength. Students will learn jazz turns, leaps, and combinations of jazz steps in the center and across the floor.

Contemporary
Contemporary is a dance form that fuses jazz, lyrical, ballet, modern into a fun and creative style of movement. Dancers will use the technique they have developed in their other dance classes and apply that in this class through movements and combinations to a wide variety of music.

Tap
Tap is a dance form that teaches students to create sounds and rhythms with their feet. Dancers will learn various tap steps through movements and combinations to fun music.

Fitness Class Descriptions
Yoga – A fitness class connecting breath to movement while executing various poses to increase flexibility and strength, mind and body awareness, and relieve stress. All levels are welcome.

Pilates – A fitness class which focuses on strengthening core muscles while improving flexibility. All levels are welcome.

Zumba – A high energy aerobic class incorporating various Latin dance moves to fun music. All levels are welcome.

Cardio Jam – A fun aerobic fitness class with simple dance moves to upbeat tunes. All levels are welcome.
